A
similar point can be made about the phrase “in Christ”. Take unity and
freedom, for example. Both of these qualities are highly praised throughout the
world. We tend to assume they are good and wonderful things. But they are not
automatically good. Unity apart from
Christ might be a gang, looking for trouble. And freedom apart
from Christ turns out to be nothing but self-indulgence. It is unity and
freedom in Christ that is life for all who belong to Him. And there is
no better life.
May
God increase in us the love that makes all our other qualities good. And may we
always experience the blessings of freedom and a unity - in Christ.
